Amazon Corporate B-Roll

About the project

Role: Project manager

The use of stock imagery is a common practice for most video editors. However, when the intent of a stock video clip is to convey distinctive people or environments, it can be misleading to audiences when an editor chooses vague or inappropriate imagery to convey something that a knowing audience could discern. When portraying the distinctive corporate environment of Amazon headquarters, most stock imagery falls short of an accurate depiction, risking audiences to feel deceived or lose trust in the content's authenticity.

The initiative has demonstrated remarkable ROI: Since launch in November 2023, the footage has been downloaded 7,140 times by 110 internal Amazon video teams globally. Given that each team would have otherwise spent approximately the same $46,000 to capture similar footage for their projects, the estimated cost savings yields $5,060,000.

This represents an ROI of roughly 11,000% ($5.06M savings from a $46K investment), demonstrating exceptional value and efficiency in resource sharing across Amazon's global video production needs.

In 2023, Brandon spearheaded a strategic video production initiative to create a comprehensive b-roll package featuring 21 Amazon corporate scenes intended for repurposeable outputs. The two-month development process included six weeks of
pre-production, three days of filming, and two weeks of post-production. He managed a $46,000 project budget, cast over 77 volunteer actors, scouted and acquired five shoot locations, and deployed six internal and external production crew members - all from a virtual standpoint without on-site participation.
